Release Overview

For the first time, Carvia gives your dealership proof that widgets are working — not in a complex dashboard, but in a Monday morning email your GM can read in 60 seconds.

Widget Analytics & Impact Reports is a first-party measurement system built specifically for embedded Carvia widgets. It tracks real shopper behavior inside your VDP — renders, viewable impressions, time spent engaging, tab clicks, shares, leads, and valuations — then distills that data into weekly and monthly impact emails that highlight only positive, actionable signals.

This is not Google Analytics bolted onto an iframe. It is Carvia-owned instrumentation designed for one question every dealer principal asks after signing a technology contract: “Is this actually moving the needle?”

02

The Problem We Solved

Dealers invest in VDP enhancements every year — photos, video, chat, payment tools, history reports. But measuring whether any of it works is surprisingly hard.

The GA4 blind spot

Most dealer websites run Google Analytics 4 for site-wide traffic. GA4 is excellent for page views, traffic sources, and funnel analysis — but Carvia widgets run inside an iframe. Unless your team has built custom cross-domain tracking (most haven't), GA4 cannot see what shoppers do inside the widget: which tabs they open, how long they read insights, whether they triggered a share or lead form.

The result: your marketing team sees VDP traffic going up, but has no idea if anyone is engaging with the Carvia Score, valuation, or AI chat you paid for.

The anecdote problem

Without first-party data, ROI conversations devolve into stories. “I think shoppers like the score.” “We got a lead last week, maybe from Carvia.” GMs and vendor committees need numbers — especially when renewal season arrives.

Dashboard fatigue

Raw analytics dashboards overwhelm retail teams. A GM managing three rooftops does not have time to interpret session funnels, viewability rates, and conversion metrics. They need a curated summary that answers: What happened? Which vehicles? Should I do anything about it?

Before Widget Analytics
After Widget Analytics
GA4 sees page views, not widget engagement
First-party tracking inside the iframe
ROI based on anecdotes and vendor promises
Weekly proof with trend and outcome data
No visibility into per-vehicle interest
VIN-level engagement ranking in monthly reports
Sales team guesses which cars are hot
Data-backed prioritization for follow-up calls
Marketing reports traffic, not widget outcomes
Shares, leads, and valuations tied to widget activity

03

What We Measure (and Why It Matters)

Widget Analytics uses industry-standard engagement definitions — the same concepts ad platforms use for viewability — adapted for automotive retail VDPs.

Reach

Widget renders

How many times the Carvia widget loaded on a VDP. This is your baseline — the number of opportunities for engagement. A render alone does not mean a shopper looked; it means the widget was available.

Attention

Viewable impressions

A shopper actually saw the widget — at least 50% visible on screen for one continuous second. This filters out shoppers who scrolled past without noticing Carvia. Viewability is the denominator for meaningful engagement rates.

Engagement

Visible time and active time

Visible time measures how long the widget and page were both on screen. Active time goes further — it counts only periods where the shopper recently interacted (scrolled, clicked, tapped). A shopper reading your Carvia Score for 45 seconds counts. A tab left open in the background does not inflate your numbers.

Interaction

Tab clicks, button taps, and carousel navigation

Which widgets shoppers explore — Score, Insights, Valuation, History, EV Insights. This tells you what content resonates. If Valuation tabs spike on trucks but Insights tabs spike on sedans, your team can tailor follow-up conversations.

Outcomes

Shares, leads, print requests, and valuations

The metrics that matter most to your bottom line. When a shopper taps Get My Full Report, submits a print lead, or engages with valuation tools, those outcomes are attributed to the session and — where possible — to the specific VIN they were viewing.

Why this matters on the floor: A GM who sees “14 share leads and 23 engaged sessions last week” can justify the Carvia line item in the budget meeting. A salesperson who sees their store's top-engaged VIN can call that buyer back with confidence.

04

What's New

Core

First-party analytics SDK

A purpose-built instrumentation layer in the Carvia widget iframe and parent SDK. Events are typed, batched, deduplicated, and stored in Carvia's own analytics pipeline — independent of your dealer GA4 setup. Long-lived VDP sessions automatically refresh authentication tokens so tracking does not drop off after five minutes on the lot.

New

Session, vehicle, and daily rollups

Raw events aggregate into three layers: sessions (30-minute inactivity timeout), per-VIN vehicle sessions (partitioned engagement duration by vehicle), and daily rollups (fast reporting without re-scanning millions of events). This architecture powers both internal admin dashboards and client-facing emails.

New

Positive-signal engine

Before any email sends, a deterministic qualification engine evaluates dozens of metrics against thresholds for positive trends, absolute performance, and material declines. Only metrics that pass — and meet diversity rules — appear in your email. If your engagement dropped 15% week over week, you will not receive a misleading “great week!” email. The system either finds genuine positives or skips the send entirely.

New

AI-written narratives (grounded in data)

Each impact email includes a headline and short narrative generated from only the qualified positive signals — never from raw dashboard dumps. If the AI output fails validation, a deterministic fallback template ensures you still receive a clean, accurate summary.

New

Vehicle engagement aggregation

Combines widget session data with authoritative outcome tables — shared vehicle leads, print leads, valuation events — to rank which VINs generated the most meaningful shopper activity. Outcomes weigh far more heavily than passive renders in the ranking model.

New

Smart eligibility and skip logic

Emails send only when enough positive signals exist. Reasons a send might be skipped: insufficient data, no qualified positives, missing recipient, or a monthly report superseding the weekly brief within 48 hours. Skipped sends are not failures — they protect your inbox from noise.

New

Client portal and admin tooling

Carvia's internal team has full analytics dashboards for support and optimization. Your dealership receives the curated impact emails — not the raw dashboard. Optional GA4 connection in the client portal adds site-level correlation for marketing teams who want both views.

05

Your Impact Emails

Two automated report types. Independent schedules. Same positive-only philosophy.

Weekly Brief — every Monday at 9:00 AM

Designed for the start of your sales week. Three to five highlight cards you can read in 30–60 seconds while scanning your inbox over coffee.

Typical weekly content includes:

  • An AI-written headline summarizing the week's strongest signal
  • Engaged session counts — shoppers who spent real time in the widget
  • Viewable impression trends when comparison data is reliable
  • Outcome highlights: shares submitted, leads captured, valuation engagements
  • One optional vehicle spotlight — the VIN that generated the most meaningful engagement (with a safe link back to your VDP when available)

Weekly briefs require at least two qualified positive signals before sending. If last week was quiet, you receive nothing — which is better than a hollow report.

Monthly Impact Report — first of each month at 9:00 AM

A broader narrative for GMs, marketing directors, and vendor review meetings. Five to eight signals with more context on trends across the full month.

Typical monthly content includes:

  • Month-over-month engagement and outcome trends (when data supports comparison)
  • Top engaged vehicles — up to several VINs ranked by session-aware engagement score, not just page views
  • Reach metrics: how many shoppers had the opportunity to see Carvia
  • Outcome totals: cumulative shares, leads, and valuations for the period
  • Safe VDP links on verified dealer domains (no tracking parameters exposed)

Monthly reports require at least three qualified signals including both reach and engagement/outcome diversity.

What you will never see in impact emails

We intentionally exclude metrics that create anxiety without action:

  • Widget load failures or error rates
  • Quick-exit sessions (bounced in under 5 seconds)
  • Funnel drop-off charts or conversion path analysis
  • Host page URLs, device breakdowns, or time-of-day heatmaps
  • Internal data-quality warnings or completeness scores
  • Negative trend callouts or “you should fix this page” recommendations

Those metrics exist in Carvia's internal tooling for product improvement. Your emails are a value receipt, not a performance review.

Weekly vs. monthly overlap: If your monthly report falls within 48 hours of a Monday weekly brief, the weekly is automatically skipped to avoid redundant emails. You get the bigger monthly story instead.

06

Vehicle-Level Intelligence

Aggregate store metrics are useful. Per-VIN intelligence is actionable.

Carvia ranks vehicles using a session-aware engagement model that weights what shoppers did, not just whether the widget loaded:

  • Engaged sessions — meaningful time in the widget
  • Deep engagement — 30+ seconds of active time or three or more interactions
  • Outcomes — shares and leads count far more than passive views
  • Valuation engagement — shoppers exploring price context on a specific VIN

In your monthly impact report, top vehicles appear with VIN and a link back to the listing (when your verified domain allows a safe URL). Your sales team can pull that list Monday morning and prioritize callbacks: “These five cars had the most serious shopper interest last month.”

This connects directly to Get My Full Report — when a shopper shares a vehicle, that outcome feeds the engagement model. Share leads, open counts, and widget sessions together tell a complete story per VIN.

07

Value by Role

For general managers

You signed the Carvia contract. Now you can defend it with data.

  • Renewal ammunition — twelve months of weekly briefs documenting engagement and outcomes
  • Coaching material — show sales managers which vehicles shoppers studied most
  • Zero dashboard login — proof arrives in your inbox; no new system to learn
  • Honest reporting — if Carvia had a quiet week, you hear nothing instead of spin

Scenario: Your vendor committee asks whether Carvia is worth renewing. You forward three monthly impact reports showing 47 share leads, 128 engaged sessions, and consistent week-over-week engagement growth. Conversation over.

For marketing managers

Connect widget performance to your broader digital strategy.

  • First-party widget data — fills the GA4 iframe gap with real engagement metrics
  • Optional GA4 connection — correlate widget outcomes with site traffic and campaign performance
  • Content resonance — see which widget tabs (Score, Insights, Valuation) drive the most interaction
  • Leadership reporting — forward weekly briefs to your GM or group leadership without building slides

Scenario: You launched a paid search campaign for trucks. The monthly report shows truck VINs dominating the top-engaged list with high valuation tab clicks. You increase truck ad spend with confidence.

For sales professionals

Know which buyers were serious before you pick up the phone.

  • Hot VIN prioritization — monthly top-vehicle list tells you where to focus follow-up
  • Share lead connectionGet My Full Report leads appear in your Carvia portal with open counts
  • Conversation starters — “I see you spent time reviewing the Carvia report on the Accord”
  • Floor confidence — data backs up your transparency pitch on the lot

Scenario: A be-back customer says they need to think about it. You send them a shared vehicle report. When your Monday brief shows they opened it twice and spent three minutes in the valuation tab, you call Tuesday morning while you are top of mind.

For fixed ops and F&I (indirect value)

While impact emails focus on sales-floor metrics, higher VDP engagement correlates with shoppers who arrive more informed — fewer surprise history issues at the desk, more productive F&I conversations about total cost of ownership (especially when EV Insights and ownership cost widgets are active).

08

GA4 Integration

Widget Analytics is intentionally independent of Google Analytics. Your impact emails do not require GA4, and GA4 cannot replace first-party widget tracking.

For dealerships that want both views, the Carvia client portal supports connecting your Google Analytics 4 property. This enables enhanced site-level reporting alongside widget analytics — useful when your marketing team wants to correlate widget outcomes with traffic sources, campaign UTMs, and site-wide conversion funnels.

Widget Analytics (Carvia)
Google Analytics 4
Inside-widget engagement, tabs, outcomes
Site-wide traffic, sources, page paths
Share and lead attribution per VIN
VDP page views (not widget internals)
Curated weekly/monthly emails
Self-serve exploration and custom reports
Privacy-safe by design (no PII stored)
Requires your privacy policy and consent setup

Think of them as complementary: GA4 tells you who came to your site. Widget Analytics tells you what they did with Carvia once they got there.

09

Privacy & Trust

Widget Analytics is built with automotive retail privacy expectations in mind:

  • No PII stored — names, emails, phones, and form values are never written to analytics events
  • No query strings or URL hashes — host page paths are sanitized before storage
  • No raw IP addresses or full user-agent strings — session identification uses opaque tokens
  • No chat content logged — AI conversations are not captured in analytics pipelines
  • Dealer domain verification — VDP links in emails only use HTTPS URLs on your verified domains

Shoppers benefit from a better experience. Your dealership benefits from aggregate engagement proof. Individual shopper behavior is never sold or shared.

Getting Started

Impact emails are enabled by default for widget partners. Here is what to expect:

  1. Confirm your embed is current. Your Carvia account team ensures the production analytics SDK is active on your latest widget build. No action needed if you are on a supported embed version.
  2. Set your email recipients. Configure who receives weekly briefs and monthly impact reports in your Carvia client portal notification settings. Most stores send to the GM, marketing manager, and internet director.
  3. Wait for the reliability window. Your first weekly brief sends after three complete local analytics days. Your first monthly report requires fourteen complete days. This ensures trends are meaningful, not noise from day one.
  4. Optionally connect GA4. In the client portal, link your Google Analytics 4 property if your marketing team wants site-level correlation alongside widget impact emails.
  5. Watch your first Monday brief. When qualified positive signals exist, it arrives at 9:00 AM in your configured timezone. If the week was quiet, silence means the system is working — not broken.
  6. Connect outcomes to action. Cross-reference monthly top-vehicle lists with your CRM follow-up queue. Pair share lead data from Get My Full Report with engagement signals for your hottest prospects.
